He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary Elizabeth (Sellers) and Howard G. Nixon; his wife Phyllis; his stepdaughters, Cayton (Janner) and Carlyn (Pfeuffer); and his brother Nicky Nixon Daughtrey.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that any remembrances in his name be made to the Val Verde County Library.
