He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfredo Mercado and Maria Lewis (Nena); his stepfather Buster Lewis; and his grandparents, Lorenzo, Beatriz Perez, Moises and Alberta Mercado.

He is survived by: his former wife Rebecca; his children, Cynthia, Richard and Annette; his grandchildren, Zackary, Michael, Anastasia, Addyson, Nikolas and Anaí; and his sister Grace. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
