He is survived by: his son Juan of Dios Zapata; his wife Martha Elena Reyes; his sons, David Alejandro Zapata (Raquel), Pablo Zapata and Emiliano Zapata; his grandchildren, David Alejandro Zapata III, Emiliano Zapata, Jr. and Kaylee Zoe Zapata; and his siblings, Luis Angel Zapata, Gabino Zapata, Raul Rolando Zapata, Diana Zapata and Patricia Zapata.
