He was predeceased by: his father A. Kenneth Thornton; his brother Loyd Thornton; and his son Kenneth Shane Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn F. Thornton; his daughter Shawnna Thornton Wilkes (Richard Wilkes); his sisters, Billie Ussery and Marqie Russell (Dickey Russell); and his grandchildren, Kendra Wilkes and Rick Wilkes.
