He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Richard Boone and Mildred Mayfield Boone; his sister Cheri Jean Collins; his great grandchild Atlee Grace Boone; and his wife Sally.

He is survived by: his siblings, Jerry Allen Boone and Helen Wyvonne Dewey; his sons, Daniel Richard "Rusty" Boone III (Renea) of New Braunfels, Edward Allen "Buzzy" Boone (Lucia) of Iola, Randall Lee "Randy" Boone of Austin and Joel Roger Boone (Liza) of San Marcos; his grandchildren, Daniel Richard Boone IV (Shelley), Joe Nathan Boone (Lauren), Jake Allen Boone (Angie), Diane Nicole Lewis (Jonathan), Melanie Renae Schmitto (Matthew), Lance Roger Boone (Kaitlin), Colin Joel Boone (Jessica Jecmenek) and Jamie Danielle Boone; and his great grandchildren, Olivia Brooke Boone, McKenna Nicole Boone, Gabriel Allen Boone, Braden Daniel Boone, Clara Grace Boone, Ryland Joe Boone, Asher Daniel Boone, Kynlee Faith Boone, Juliette Elaine Boone, Raeleigh Lacey Boone, Eliana Rhea Lewis, Jensen Charles Boone, Adeline Esther Lewis and Sawyer Boone Schmitto.

As Alzheimer's slowly took Sally from him, Dan took on more and more of her care.
