He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Benton Cowen and Ora Mae Cowen (Dunn). He is survived by: his spouse Norva "Faye" Cowen; and his children, Sheryl (Richard), Donna (Brett), Diane Monte (Eric) and Barry (Kristi). He is also survived by numerous grand children, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to their church family at Dayton First Assembly of God.
