He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Skarke and Marie Skarke (Vorwald); his siblings, Ann Gerber and James Skarke; and his grandson Anthony Groneman.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Skarke of Dawn; his children, Steven Skarke (Barbara) of Canyon and Katie Tschida (Zebulon) of Katy, Texas; his stepchildren, Lelia Groneman (George) of Vega and Joseph Beckman (Julie) of Hondo, Texas; and his sisters, Geraldine Gerber of Canyon and Dorothy Helm of Roby, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a favorite charity.
