He was predeceased by: his parents, Nell Thrash and Afton Thrash; and his siblings, Ronnie and Latane. He is survived by: his wife Teresa Propes; his son Ryan (Liz); his grandchildren, Carter and Claire; his son Trent (Neely); and his grandsons, Walker and Will. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

“To you Teresa, so sorry I could not attend Gene's Memorial service as am trying get over Covid. My heart hurt when I heard of his passing. Gene was one of the good guys and will be missed by all who called him "friend". We grew up together and shared many of life's young experiences and kept together whenever was possible . Loved his heart for God, know he will be missed but know those in Christ will someday be able to join him ..........”
