He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. "Red" Espey and Jessie Marie Upchurch. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn; his children, Rick Espey (Nancy) of San Antonio, Patricia Loyd (Brian) of Georgetown and Carey Twombly (James) of Cedar Park; his grandchildren, David Espey (Taylor D'Andrea) of Santa Monica, CA, Kara Espey Osburn (Levi) of Austin, Chris Twombly (Ashley) of Lubbock, Nick Twombly of Austin, Daniel Espey of Waring, TX, Patrick Twombly of Lubbock, Ashley and Abby Rivas of Lubbock; his great grandchild Malcolm Osburn; and his sister-in-law Sandy Espey of Houston. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and cousins.
