She was predeceased by: her parents, Lillian Calvert Spinks and Milton Spinks; and her sister Nettie Lou Spinks (Tom Gray). She is survived by: her significant other Tom Gray; her sons, James Cary Gray (Amber), Milton Schylar Gray (Kerrie) and Walter Harold Gray, II (Libby); and her grandchildren, Thomas Cary Gray, William Carroll Gray, Caroline Gray Lukefahr (Carly), Milton Schylar Gray, Jr., James Taylor Gray, Alanna Gray Bass, Amberly Gray Black, Ashley Gray Kelley and Andrew William Gray. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the Gray family suggests contributions to the "Lanella Spinks Gray Baylor at Independence Endowed Fund" established for the purpose of ensuring the preservation of Baylor's historical presence at the original university campus in Independence.
