He was predeceased by: his parents, Col. John W. Gerwig and Julia Droullard Gerwig; and his sister Kathleen Gerwig Houston of McKinney, TX.. He is survived by: his wife Kim Dowell Gerwig; his stepchildren, Jacob Olgreen (Vanessa) of Mesquite, TX, Campbell Dowell IV and Elizabeth Dowell of Dallas, TX; his former wife Peggy Shilling Gerwig of McKinney, TX; his sons, Todd Shilling Gerwig (Typhony) of Denton, TX and John Walter Gerwig III of McKinney, TX; his sister Susan Gerwig Penney of Seattle, WA.; and his grandchildren, Willow Gerwig of Texas, Tyler Gerwig of Texas, Tanner Gerwig of Texas, Tessa Gerwig of Texas and Alexander Hancock of Texas. He is also survived by niece and four nephews.
