He was predeceased by: his father John M.; his grandparents, William Stewart Peek, Sr. and Eugenia Thomasson Peek; his brother Ralph S. Peek; and his grandson Jonathan Grant Smallwood.
He is survived by: his spouse Fay Marie Sumpter; his uncle Herbert Moir; his daughters, Megan Smallwood (Joe) of Bedford, TX and Jennifer Castro (Les) of Plano; his grandchildren, Dr. Rachel Smallwood Shoukry (George) of Springfield, VA, Cammie Jo Smallwood Hatcher (Sam) of Arlington, TX and Daniel Smallwood (Krista) of Fort Worth; his great grandchildren, Tobias and Lorelei; his sister Barbara Skeens (Doug) of Mt. Carmel, TN; and his caregivers, Beth, Monica, Natalie, Ann, Ayesha and Chaplain Bobby of Enhabit Hospice. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A reception will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home (7990 President George Bush Tpke, Dallas, TX 75252).
Interment will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a later date, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FaithfulFriend.org, a Christian ministry placing and training service dogs with military combat veterans and formerly working with incarcerated youth.
