He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Lee Hemphill and Lunelle Hemphill; and his wife Carolyn Armstrong. He is survived by: his sons, Harlton (Wendy Hemphill), Hayden (Mishal Hemphill), Clayton (Teresa Hemphill) and Carter Hemphill of Alexandria, VA.; his grandchildren, Corban, Aubrey, Caleb, Walker, Rachel, Avery, Mollie, Parker and Arden; his great grandchildren, Alaina and Holden; and his sister Rosa Lee Prichard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hilton Hemphill's honor may be made to Bill Glass Behind the Walls prison ministry (www.https://www.behindthewalls.com) and the Memory Support Unit at MRC Cornerstone in Texarkana (http://www.mrcaff.org).

“I am sorry to learn of Hilton's death, and offer my condolences. I knew Hilton back in the seventies when we both worked at U S Trust. We were not close professionally or socially, but I knew him as an excellent financial analyst and outstanding human being. In the 1980s we both moved to Texas financial institutions but did not keep in touch with each other. I know Hilton will be missed by all close friends and family, but leaves fond memories.
