With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of David Ernest Smartt of Dallas, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 19, 2024 at the age of 53. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his parents, Claude Smartt and Meredith Smartt; his wife Kara Smartt; his children, Julia, Clifton and Drew Smartt; his siblings, Becky Powell (Jim), Rachel Smartt, John Smartt (Shelli) and Robert Smartt; his parents-in-law, Julia and Arnold Wharton; and his brothers-in-law, Alan Wharton and David Wharton (Catherine). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Park Cities Presbyterian Church (4124 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, TX 75219).
