He was predeceased by: his parents, Selma Richter Mickan and Walter Mickan; his sister Josephine Cockrum (Marilyn Kelm Mickan); and his daughters, Deborah Mickan Burgess and Melinda Mickan Swafford.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his siblings, Harold Mickan and Geraine Gottschalk (Bob); his grandchildren, Joshua Swafford (Laura), Tiffany Burgess Bogle (Samuel), Casey Swafford Rainey (Lance), Shaun Burgess (Chrissy) and Benjamin Swafford (Hannah); his great grandchildren, Eoin, Judah Burgess, Kennedy, Hadley Swafford, Isabella, Josiah Bogle, Landri, Quinley, Kolbie Rainey and Cooper Curtis; and his pet Heidi. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be given to the Faith Lutheran Church Workers' Scholarship Fund (FLCMS), Lutheran Hour Ministries (LCMS), Zion Lutheran Cemetery Fund, or the Texas Partners in Mission - Texas District.
