He was predeceased by: his son Billy Peters; and his sister Ina Sue Ferguson. He is survived by: his wife Linda Peters of Dalhart, TX; his son Troy Rodgers (Tammie) of Dumas, TX; his siblings, Phyllis Morrison, Diann Dunn, Carolyn Moore, Sandy Ferguson, Rodney Ferguson, Louis Peters and Chan Peters; and his grandchildren, Zack Peters, Zane Peters, Klint Rodgers, Klay Rodgers, Synda Rodgers and Kari Dawn Putman. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.

“Dear Linda and family, I was so sorry to hear of Calvin's death. You have my sincere sympathy. I first remember meeting Calvin when I was about 5 or 6 years old. I was out at the Maston ranch with Shirley Shelton and her mother Bea who was feeding the cowboys that day. Shirley and I really looked up to Calvin--I'm guessing he was 17 or 18. He put us up on a horse and was so nice to us. We thought he was a really neat guy! I hope you are all doing well. Take care, Donna Harwood Jordan”
