He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Hartwell and Hazel Hartwell; his sister Mildred Reid; and his son Lee Hartwell. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Hartwell; his children, Joe M. Hartwell, Julie Callahan (Michael), Nancy Benton and Steve Ringo (Susie); his daughter-in-law Sheri Hartwell; and his grandchildren, Rian Hartwell, Branden Hartwell, Clayton Benton, Ashley Benton, Jack Ringo and Evan Ringo.
