He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Dean "Doc" Vinson and Delma Mae Nicewarner Vinson; his son Bobby Gene Vinson; and his grandchildren, Chance Penland and Tiffany Ash.
He is survived by: his wife Lynda Van Norman of Dallas; his children, Martha Smith (Mike) of Yantis, Tammy Vinson of Yantis, Kelly Hobbs (Monroe) of Yorktown, Dana Evans of Lake Charles, Louisiana and David Penland of Cumby; his sister Dora Alverson of Commerce; and his grandchildren, Christopher Lay, Tory Fielden Smith, Dustin Fielden, Caleb Penland, Tristan Penland, Monroe Hobbs II, Marshal Hobbs and Olivia Hobbs. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
