He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Cantu and Teodora Cantu (Guerrero); his wife Belia Menchaca; his brother Fermin Cantu; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Cantu.
He is survived by: his children, Adela Cantu of New Orleans, LA, Bertha Tornez (Rufino) of Estherville, Jaime Cantu (Lori) of Marshalltown, Maria Clary (Zachary) of Des Moines and Trista Farmer (Steven) of Humboldt; his siblings, Fernando "Ruben" Cantu (Rose) of Algona, Fred Cantu of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Maria Edwards (Jeff) of San Antonio, TX and Melba Cantu of San Antonio, TX; and his sister-in-law Diana Cantu of Crystal City, TX. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 new grandchildren.
