He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Cantu and Teodora Cantu (Guerrero); his brothers, Fermin and Francisco "Frank" Cantu; his sisters-in-law, Belia and Bonnie Cantu; and his grandchildren, Andrew and Angel.
He is survived by: his former wife Maria; his wife Rose; his children, Rebecca Cantu (Lesa), Fernando Ruben Jr. Cantu (Christine), Reynaldo Tomas Cantu, Rachel Cantu and Rosa Maria Stein; his grandchildren, Alexander, Jordan, Brady, Shaliko, Ethan, Olivia, Ashley, Evan, Colby and Sabrina; his great grandchildren, Ayla, Bria and Felix; his siblings, Fred Cantu, Maria Edwards (Jeff) and Melba Cantu; and his pet Chuey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
