He was predeceased by: his father Nelson Vaughn Smith; his wife Ginger Wareham Smith; his brothers, Nelson Eddie Smith and Mickey Smith; his mother Mary Opal Smith; and his grandparents, Charlotte Smith, Matthew Smith, Jack Hall and Maggie Hall.
He is survived by: his children, Marilyn Caldas (Ely Caldas) of New Braunfels, Crystal Jeane of Crosby, Texas, Mickey Smith (Yvonne Smith) of Atascocita, Tommy Smith (Rachel Smith) of Houston, Ronald Smith (Ashli Smith) of New Caney and Preston Smith (Debbie Smith) of Kyle, Texas; his sister Patsy Thorndyke (Booney Thorndyke) of Texarkana, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Jessica, Kassie, Kayla, Rachel, April, Eric, Robert, Greg, Megan of Abbi, J. J., Nicholas, Melissa and Monica. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the San Jacinto Funeral Home (14659 East Fwy, Houston, TX 77015). A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Rosewood Memorial Park (2602 S Houston Ave, Humble, TX 77396).
