He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyrus Drinkard and Daisy Jewel Freeman Drinkard; his son Sam Drinkard; and his brothers, Eugene Drinkard, Elwood Drinkard and Owen "Big Baby" Drinkard.

He is survived by: his sister-in-law Mary Sue Drinkard of Groveton; and his nieces and nephews, Elmer Drinkard of Crockett, Mary Jewel Drinkard of Groveton, Elwood Drinkard, Jr. of Groveton, Susie Hammond (Glen) of Groveton, Ricky Jean Drinkard of Palestine, Brenda Drinkard of Grapeland and Nelda Kay Drinkard of Wichita Falls.
