He was predeceased by: his siblings, Albertano Velasquez, Ernest Velasquez, Robert Velasquez and Florinda Zarate. He is survived by: his wife Alinda Velasquez of Crane; his children, Oscar Velasquez Jr. (Nancy), Jesse Reyes of Big Lake, Barnie Velasquez of San Antonio, Cynthia Aguilar of Big Lake and Melissa Ramirez of San Antonio; and his sisters, Lydia Tovar of Crane, Rosaelva Villegas of Odessa and Eva Marquez of Midland. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
