He was predeceased by: his parents, Tollie J Shubert and Vivian Louise Jones. He is survived by: his brother Kenneth Shubert of Dallas, Texas; his close friend Karen Matson of Forney, Texas; his children, Mary Shubert, Amanda Shubert, Crystal Shubert, Garry Shubert Jr. and Tiffany Galaz; his grandchildren, Lorynna, Austin, Harlee, Riley and Danikah; and his cousins, Bob, Laura Hall and John Summers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude's Children's cancer center.
