He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lafayette Vaughn and Lillian "Maxine" Tenberg Byrum; and his brothers, Robert Earl Vaughn and Wayne Miller Vaughn. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Shell Vaughn; his son James "Jimmy" Kenneth Vaughn; his stepsister Sherry Cowell; and his cousins, Jan Tenberg Braley, Ann Tenberg Page, Tammy Tenberg, Michael Dean Vaughn, Susan Vaughn Searcy and Terry Vaughn. He is also survived by his family, his love of friends.
