Jim Anderson wrote a sympathy message

“Was at a Country Horseshoe Tournament coming toward me was a guy pulling a wagon full of flags, horseshoes and have no idea what else was afraid to ask. Pitched against him one game at the tournament we introduced each other at same time laughed and pitched. I can tell a lot about a persons life by a horseshoe game believe it or not. Found Joe to be courteous, honest, a good pitcher and loved life. I was proud to be his friend and will miss him around the courts, however God has a great man now”
