He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Coody and Ottie Faye Coody; and his siblings, Walter Paul Coody, Margie Herring, Donnie Coody and G. H. "Pete" Coody.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Coody; his children, Julia (Kevin Woods), Ricky (Debbie Coody) and Debbie (Mike Del Valle); his grandchildren, Heather Hayes, Christopher Woods (Michaela), Thomas Del Valle, Stephen Woods, Bryanne Hardaway (Dalton) and Chance Coody; his great grandchildren, Isabella, Derek, Dylan, Kennedy and Henry; and his brother Gene McBride.
