We are sad to announce that on June 22, 2023, at the age of 65, John Steven Carter of Coppell, Texas, born in Oak Park, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lester Carter and Mary Louise Orton Carter; and his parents-in-law, Catherine and Kenneth Gordon. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Lynn Gordon Carter; his daughters, Julie Carter Heckmann (Jonathan) and Kristen Carter Jackson (John); his granddaughters, Emma and Lucy Heckmann; his sister Patricia Carter Nagler (Tom); his nephews, Erich and Stephen Nagler (Mary); and his niece Laura Nagler Duncan (Paul).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in John's memory to the Student Assistance Fund at The University of Tennessee at Martin.
