Georgia was born in Wallis, Texas on April 12, 1932 to Frank and Betty Petrash. She grew up on a farm near Wallis and graduated from Orchard High School. Georgia married Alois (Lou) Hrdlicka at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, TX on July 10, 1949. After their wedding, Lou and Georgia lived in Sealy, TX. They moved to Port Lavaca, TX, where they were active in Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Georgia started working for the Port Lavaca Wave, the local newspaper in the advertising department. She retired as General Manager of the newspaper.
Lou and Georgia moved to Kerrville, TX in 1994, and were active members of Notre Dame Catholic Church. In Kerrville, Georgia served as the coordinator of volunteers at the Raphael Community Free Clinic. The mission of the Clinic is to provide free healthcare in a Christian environment for low income, uninsured people in Kerrville and the surrounding areas. Georgia was active in the group of people who founded the clinic, and watched it grow from a weekly event in the gymnasium of a local school, to a fully functional health clinic in its own facility.
In 2004, Georgia received a medal and certificate from Pope John Paul II in recognition of her volunteerism. A great deal of Georgia's adult life was spent volunteering for various organizations. In addition to the Raphael Community Free Clinic, her legacy includes Meals on Wheels, Crisis Hotline, Area Food Pantries in both Kerrville and Port Lavaca, and Hospice. She also served as the funeral liaison for her parish in Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville.
