Michael Foy Coggins Obituary
Michael Foy Coggins, age 74, of Converse, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Michael was born in Columbus, Georgia to Bennie Foy Coggins and Mary Frances Barton.
Mike attended college in Alabama and worked at the Ledger-Enquirer Newspaper before joining the US Air Force. He served in the United States Air Force for six years then moved his family to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas where he opened and ran several businesses. His businesses included Cris Equipment, Valley Yamaha, and Pharr Brand Name Apparel.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend throughout his life. Some of Mike's fondest memories were his summers on Lake Harding at his family's lake house. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, and riding motorcycles. He loved his family and was an amazing role model for his three sons. Mike had a heart of gold and was passionate about helping others.
He is preceded in death by his parents Benny Foy and Mary Frances Coggins.
Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Mahan Coggins; three sons, Christopher Michael, Shawn Eugene (Crystal), and Jeffery Scott (Jamie); sister, Cindy Ann Lacey (Steve); seven grandchildren, Jessica Renee, Christyn Leigh, Ethan Scott, Dylan Michael, Matthew James, Hayden Wyatt, Preston Reid and great-granddaughter, Hazel Nicole.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Walnut Springs Nursing Home staff for the love and care that they provided.
A committal service with Military Honors for Michael will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 10:50 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
