He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Harvell; his children, Kathie Wheeler, Jerry Harvell, Charlie Harvell and John Harvell Jr. (Little Johnny); and his siblings, Rollin Harvell, Gary Harvell and Susan Boyer. He is also survived by grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
