He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Mizell and Artie Bell Scrivner Mizell; his wife Betty Jo Schuh; and his daughter-in-law Nancy Hunt Mizell. He is survived by: his children, Steve Mizell, Kathy Mizell and Nancy Davis; and his grandchildren, Ben Mizell (Rose), Susanna Liday (Jeff), Erin Brownfield (Robert), Andrew Davis (Torie) and Brent Mizell. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
