With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lorene Gates of Columbus, Texas, born in Hallettsville, Texas, who passed away on April 2, 2022 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer James Campbell and Laura Campbell (Speed); her husband Dick Gates; and her daughter Carol Schmidt. She is survived by: her granddaughter Sheryl Emmel (Chris Panos); her great grandchildren, Cody Jowers (Aysia), Briana Jowers (Nathan Arnold) and Weston Emmel; her great great grandchildren, Tatum Soto and Charli Jowers; and her son-in-law William Carl Schmidt. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
