He was predeceased by: his wife Billie Ann Hanus; his parents, Adolph Jr. Hanus and Evelyn Hanus; and his brothers, Arthur Noel Hanus and Jerry Thomas Hanus.

He is survived by: his son Thomas Alan; his pets, Little Bit and Zuma; his children, Phillip Michael Hanus (Gaylynne), Deborah Lynn Wahlberg (Lennard), Timothy Lee Hanus (Kay) and Thomas Hanus Crawford (Michael); his nephews, Arthur Hanus and Jerry Hanus; and also, Timothy Ryan Hanus (Katie), Latisha Renee Kristynik (Shaun), Justin William Wahlberg (Lauren), Heather Anne Redmann (Jeff), Janel Lee Barten (Jacob) and Sean Michael Hanus. He is also survived by 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
