He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Eckermann and Christina Eckermann (Kubicek); his parents-in-law, Johnnie Shupak, Sr. and Emily Schmidt Shupak; his sister Ernestine Eckermann Evanicky; and his siblings-in-law, Joyce Wostarek Shupak, Robert Shupak, Jerry "Shorty" Shupak and Donald Shupak.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Eckermann; his daughters, Melissa Eckermann Finke of Frelsburg and Emily Eckermann Gross of Frelsburg; his grandchildren, Brooke Finke of Ledbetter, Brian Finke of Round Top and Shelby Gross of Frelsburg; his great grandchild Sage Finke of Ledbetter; his pet Sugar; and his siblings-in-law, Johnnie Shupak, Jr. of Frelsburg, James Shupak (Shirley) of Weimar and Joyce Shupak Schmidt (Jackie Sr.) of Victoria. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
