He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Anderson Wharton and Roger Perry Wharton; and his wife Wynoma. He is survived by: his daughter Rhonda Wharton Reed; his son-in-law Dr. Adam Reed; his son Robert Wharton; his stepson Maurice "Smokey" Salmons; and his sister Becky Wharton Odenkirk. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and two grandchildren.
