He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Zimmerman and Evelyn Zimmerman; his son Daryl Lynn Zimmerman; his grandsons, Bryon and Curtis Layton; and his sisters, Jane Eppele and Margaret Zimmerman (Peggy).

He is survived by: his wife Marcella Zimmerman; and his children, Melanie Layton of Mansfield, Ed Zimmerman of Mansfield and Tim Zimmerman of Arlington.
