She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvin Childers and Ofie Childers; her husband Charles Newman; her daughter Tina Smith; and her siblings, Frankie London, Louise Spears, Dot Eudaly and Leroy Childers.

She is survived by: her sons, Jon Smith (Tammie) and Olin Smith; and her grandchildren, Curtis Smith, Jared Smith, Daniel Smith, Caleb Smith (Marah) and Saige Smith. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
