He was predeceased by: his parents, Rex Cornelius Mahan Sr. and Pauline Harper Mahan of Brownwood; his brothers, Max Mahan of San Saba and Weldon Mahan of Brownwood; and his grandson Aubrey Matthew Mahan of Helotes, Texas..
He is survived by: his former wife Barbara Ann Harrell of Goldthwaite; his son Max Mahan; his family, Abilene and Max; his wife Betty Long of Lampasas; his stepchild De Aun Long; his sons, Rex "Rusty" Mahan III (Dee) of Bulverde and Aubrey Mahan (Peggy) of Helotes; his stepchildren, Randy Long (Deborah) of Shields and DeAun Dalton (Jay) of Fisk, Texas.; his great grandchildren, Arianna, Christian, Brendon, Marissa, Evan, Michaila, Molly, Cannon, Mallory, Bryson, Garrison, Kayden, Kenlie, Hudson, Arnold and Jacob; and his great great grandchildren, Emma and Ember.
