He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Lester and Lillie Ann Moreland (Nutt); his wife Patricia Moreland of Clyde; his daughter Lori Denise Akers (Archie) of Clyde; his sisters, Helen Henry of Arlington and Lovella Moreland of Gatesville; his sisters-in-law, Carol Moreland of Gatesville and Etta Mae Railey of Coldsprings; his grandsons, Jared Michael Akers (Laura) of Abilene, Mitchell Jordan Akers (Mackenzie) of Eastland and Matthew Blake Akers (Miranda) of Clyde; and his great grandchild Mason John Akers of Abilene. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bobby Dale Moreland For those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers, the family suggests Hendricks Hospice Care.
