He was predeceased by: his parents, John Barnett and Vera Maxine Nichols (Stevens); and his sister Betty Lou Salazar. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Nichols of Clyde; his children, Casey Nichols (Kerry) of Clayton and Misti Rote (Fred) of Poquoson, Virginia; his siblings, W. E. Black (Mary) of Abilene, Jerry Don Black (Babe) of Coronados Camp, John B. Nichols (Florence) of View, Dewey Lon Nichols (Carolyn) of Merkel, Melissa Smith (Millard) of Anson and Carol Bushong of Iowa Park; his grandchildren, Kaleb Nichols of Clayton, Madison Nichols of Clayton, Nicholas Rote of San Diego and Ashlyn Rote of Poquoson, Virginia; his aunts, Iva Nell Townzen (B. F.) of Hawley and Maxine Stevens of Hodges; his brothers-in-law, David Hendricks of Clyde and Joe G. Gray of Clyde; and his pet Daisy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
