He was predeceased by: his parents, George Cecil and Leona Wheeler (Cox); his wife Barbara Lynn; his siblings, George, Andy Wheeler and Margie Ellen Norris; and his grandson Jonathan Troy Wheeler.

He is survived by: his children, Dennis Wheeler (Lou), John C. Wheeler, Brandon Wheeler (Sherri), Jason Wheeler (LeAnne), Betty Beck (Brian), Jackie Kihara (Steve), Diania Sporisky, Amber Spencer and Crystal Sporisky; his siblings, Henry Sylvester Wheeler, Anna Mae Nicholson and Rose Marie Henry; his grandchildren, Dixie, Diana, Ariel, Catherine, Jonathon, Jasmine, Lillian, Violet, Bryan and Mckynzi; and his great grandchildren, Aleigha, Harley, Jocilynn, Matthew, Darian, Alonzo, Zayeda, Noah, Katherine, Janie, Lucas, Evelyn and June. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren that are not listed that he loved as his own and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Bailey-Howard Funeral Home (105 Oak St, Clyde, TX 79510). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel (105 Oak St, Clyde, TX 79510). A burial was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at the Belle Plaine Cemetery.
