He was predeceased by: his wife Martha; his sons, Benny and Eddie Gamble; his granddaughter Jamie Gamble Besse; and his siblings, Audrey Payne and J. L. Gamble.
He is survived by: his children, Joe Don Gamble (Jane) and Charlotte Johnston. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, & a sisters-in-law.
