He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Pope and Ethel Pope (Williamson); his former wife Rene Payne Pope; his wife Janice Sanders Pope; and his children, Steven Pope and Susan Pope.

He is survived by: his children, Greg, J'Net Barber, Toni, Ed Allen, Sherri Pate, Melvin Brown and Stephanie Rogers; and his grandson Christopher Allen.
