He was predeceased by: his wife Catherine Ward Nelson; his parents, Bettye Faye Drinkard and Wilbur Nelson Jr.; and his sisters, Barbara Nelson Jones and Jeri Jean Carroll.
He is survived by: his son Christopher Scott Nelson (Pam); and his siblings, Kerry Nelson Hicks and Nancy Carroll Cooke. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
