He was predeceased by: his parents, Minerva Marie Schumann Lawrence and Houston Rollen Lawrence; and his brother Lee Wayne Lawrence. He is survived by: his wife Leah; his children, Mary Elizabeth, Emile Charles Christopher (Ploy) and Sam Houston (Amber); and his siblings, Rev. Mindy Lawrence Curtis (Carl), Shirley Gonzales, Teresa Clay, Hulda Coskey (Bill), Christine Moreland (Craig), Adele Schull, Houston R. Lawrence, Jr. (DeNize), Rodney Lawrence (Barbara "Sam") and Michael Lawrence. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
