She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Gillis, Sr. and Beula James; her husband John Michael Amyx, Sr.; and her daughter Deborah Amyx. She is survived by: her children, John Michael Amyx, Jr., Kim Amyx McMillan (Trey) and David Amyx; her grandchildren, Tabitha Johnson (Cooper), Jonathan Emmons (Holly) and Victoria Paschal (Aiden); her great grandchildren, Levi Johnson (Maegan), Ty Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Haydin Johnson, Abigail Emmons, Kassidy Emmons, Brayden Kennedy, Aurora Paschal and Hailey Paschal; and her siblings, Fred Gillis, Jr. and Melody Johnson.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Beginnings Baptist Church of Patton Village (16715 Main St, Splendora, TX 77372). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038).
