He was predeceased by: his parents, Ulysses S. Gandy and Daisy Wilkins Gandy; his wife Trulla May Gandy; and his siblings, Lloyd Gandy, William "Duce" Gandy, Louise Burkett, Gladys Hensarling and Eva Suggs.

He is survived by: his son Paul Ulysses Gandy; and his nieces and nephews, Larry Gandy, Carl Gandy, Kaye Duncan, Faye Beck, Ken Hensarling, Jean Bolton, Jerry Burkett, Ernest "Dusty" Suggs, William Gandy, Mike Gandy and Trina Phillips. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and great nephews, friends and neighbors.
