He was predeceased by: his parents, Leve Eugine Ashby and Mary Benford Ashby; his siblings, John Hicks Smith, Brenda Sue Ashby, Sally Faye Williams and Billie Jean Lilley; and his grandson Dalton James Futrell.
He is survived by: his wife Reta Kay Ashby; his daughters, Trinity Dian Futrell, Christi Cay Smoot, Rebekah Lenn Ashby Renteria and Jamie Lea Ashby Patterson; his sons-in-law, Richard James Futrell, Christopher Gene Renteria and Patrick Ryan Patterson; his sister Patricia Ann Ashby; and his grandchildren, Philip James Roberts, Micah James Ashby, James Harold Patterson, Meagan Nicole Futrell and Samantha Grace Futrell.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cleveland - Pace-Stancil Funeral Home (303 E Crockett St, Cleveland, TX 77327). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Pace-Stancil Chapel (303 E Crockett St, Cleveland, TX 77327). A burial was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at the Morgan Cemetery (1 Morgan Cemetery Rd, Cleveland, TX 77328).
