Wanda Lee Payne Obituary
Wanda Lee Payne, 85, of Cisco passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Wanda was born in Cisco to Richard Stephan and Bessie Lee (Hunt) Rogers on July 15, 1939. She married David Larry Payne on August 7, 1954 at Bible Baptist Church in Cisco and they were happily wed for 65 years until his passing in 2019.
Wanda had many jobs through the years, but was a cook at Baptist Christian Day Schools in Midland for Bro. R.S. Day for many years. After returning to Cisco in 1980, she worked in Bill and Nelda Gary's office and for her beloved cousin Roy Rogers and his wife Dene at Dene's Water Hauling. Wanda was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her spouse, both her parents, son David Glenn Payne, daughter Joy Lynette Brown, brother Richard Don Rogers and two great-grandchildren, Amber Hammond and Logan McAskill.
She is survived by daughters Cheryl Lindsay of Midland and Karen Self of Cisco; a sister, Virginia Fulmer of Cisco; 10 grandchildren, April Harnett (Richard), Amy Snow (Robert Harris), Casey Self (Jamie), Melanie Childress (Aaron), Leann Kerney (Danny), Shawnna Aaron (Glen), Brandon Self (Amy), Chappell Guthrie (Sarah), Bobby Swindle and Jessica Ballard; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jessie Wright, four brothers-in-law Wesley, Lonnie, Vernon (Sheila), and Rex (Brenda) Payne, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in the Kimbrough-Jacobs Chapel, with Reverend Vernon Payne of Mena, Arkansas officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
